LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles city fire officials say a slow-moving brush fire is burning in the hills of Sherman Oaks, in the populated Benedict Canyon area, but that no homes are believed to be threatened.
Capt. Rick McClure says the fire started at 5:30 a.m. Friday and is about two acres. The fire is burning south of Ventura Boulevard on Benedict Canyon Lane.
Fifty firefighters, eight fire companies and two water-dropping helicopters are on the scene.
McClure says firefighters are being aided by calm winds.
