GOP rebound: On Sunday, the outlook for this week's Republican National Convention appeared grim. Many questions – some legitimate, some ridiculous – swirled around Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, GOP nominee John McCain's surprise choice for running mate. Another massive potential distraction came from Hurricane Gustav.
Farm labor vote: Bad ideas never die. They just hope the stars someday will align in their favor. Among them is Assembly Bill 2386, introduced by Assemblyman Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles. It's just another incarnation of his previous bill to erode the right of farm workers to a genuinely secret-ballot election on whether to unionize.
