Company recalls dressing with wrong back labels

ASSOCIATED PRESS

10:07 a.m. September 5, 2008

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The T. Marzetti Company is announcing a limited recall of 12-ounce bottles of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn salad dressing because of mislabeling.

The Columbus, Ohio-based dressing maker says the bottles may have incorrect back labels that are for Girard's French Dressing and don't list eggs among the ingredients. Eggs are contained in the honey dijon peppercorn dressing, and Marzetti says people who don't know that and have egg allergies run the risk of a serious reaction if they consume the product.

The company says no illnesses have been reported.

Marzetti says the recalled dressing was distributed throughout the western U.S., primarily California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona.

The bottles have the “Best By” date code 06-11-09M.
